Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, is characterized by the presence of obsessive thoughts which, in most cases, translate into rituals. The rituals associated to a compulsion driven by the thoughts are performed by the sufferer in order to counter certain fears and anxieties. For a perform suffering from OCD, resisting to give in to a compulsion will necessarily result to something undesirable, such as death, stress or diseases. No matter how irrational these fears might be, a sufferer will not be able to discern. In many instances, out of embarrassment, or fear of being outcasted, an OCD sufferer chooses to keep the disorder to himself, believing that such an act is the best option to take. However, the result is often negative since OCD gets complex over time, and not revealing one’s real condition will of course hamper any possible treatment from happening. Indeed, by whatever means, OCD should be treated as early as possible.
